Description:
#4990 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45COLT, 108XXX(1884) with a smooth bore with no mentionable pitting but also no rifling! Looks to have been deliberately smooth-bored (done after market, NOT one of the very rare factory smooth bores) and probably used in some type of shooting exhibitions or Wild West shows for shooting glass balls that were thrown in the air. The correct hammer has all the clicks intact and the action is good with the proper timing. Markings are mostly G-VG, but barrel address is slightly worn and there are a few scattered areas of light pitting as can be seen in the photos. The rest of the metal is VG with an overall brownish-grey mottled patina. Grips appear to be the originals but do have some minor shrinkage. This old “Peacemaker” is probably not too accurate for any longer yardage shots, but would be great for snake-shot cartridges or short yardage shots with round ball re-loads. About Very Good as described. $3250
