Description: General Specs: Winchester, Year 1938, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 8oz, Chokes ws1/ws2, LOP 14", DAH 2 1/8", DAC 1 7/16" Serial Number: 12805 When John Olin wanted to have title to the strongest side by side shotgun in the world, he went to work and got it done. The Model 21 is an American icon with a well-deserved reputation. A strikingly handsome gun made with the finest steels, gunners in the know have utilized this Winchester in the field and at the club to shoot thousands of rounds without failure. IF YOU LIKE HEAVY LOADS FOR TOUGH GAME, THIS IS THE GUN. Most double gun enthusiasts are keenly aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of mechanical genius that was under the micro-management of John Olin himself. With only 30,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any all original Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm. This fine pre-war M21 Skeet Grade, sn12805 built in 1938, is a great example of a vintage gun with the very best of modern shooting features. With perfect mirror bores, barrels tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face with the top lever right of center, crisp single selective trigger, strong well-timed ejectors, great shooting dimensions, and in the same configuration as when it left the factory 82 years ago, she is mechanically AS NEW and pretty to look as well. The 26” WS1/WS2 barrels retain 93% factory blue, the receiver retains 70% blue, the trigger guard 96% blue, and the HIGHLY FIGURED WALNUT stocks have excellent checkering with no cracks and superb wood-to-metal fit. This fine Winchester has been in use for 82 years and shows a few light marks in the wood, some normal wear and flaking on the receiver, and normal handling marks and wear on the barrels. We have priced the gun accordingly. If you look close at the photos you will see a “JEWEL IN THE ROUGH”, as the basics of the gun are solid as a rock. If you like the gun and want it to look Winchester new, we can restore her entirely for you for an added $1600 (rust blue barrels, restored wood, Turnbull charcoal blue receiver, A TRUE BARGAIN!). The wood is killer and with the checkered butt she is a hard gun to find. This gun will be stunning fully restored. If you enjoy chasing upland birds, or just shooting a round of skeet or sporting clays, this is a great vintage Winchester just as she is now. The mechanics and screws are perfect, all ready for the highest volume, heaviest loads you would ever want to feed into a shotgun. There are many 12ga. Model 21 guns to choose from, but how do you know which one to buy??? I suggest that you only buy a valuable investment quality shotgun if you know for sure what you are getting. You need details to make an informed choice…details most other sellers do not provide like bore diameter, barrel wall thicknesses, stock dimensions, chokes and other specifics that make a big difference in value. And how about photos that will really let you see the gun and its condition before you spend your money? We at Vintage Firearms work hard to provide you the power of knowledge and the opportunity to buy solid, investment quality firearms with no excuses or surprises. We even answer our phone all day long, 6 days a week. We want your business! Thanks for looking!
