Mechanically the gun is perfect with all mechanical features inplace and functioning as desighed. the serial number is 25578 (1898) and does not require FFL palper work for shipping. The walnut stock and forend are in like new condition with only very minor handlilng marks. The metal surfaces retain aproximately 90% condition as reblued when restored. The only part of the metal that is not smoth and clean are the sides of the receiver. It is apparent that these surfaces were badly pitted pryor to refinishine and would require extensive grinding to remofe the pitted contour. For this reason these surfaces still show the surface pitting that has been blued over. All other metal surfaces are smooth and unmarked. The rifle has both a ladder type rear sight and a Marbles Tang rear sight. The front sight is a standard blade insert. This is a very nice "86" that can be added to a collection or taken to the field for your next hog or elk hunt. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: winchester Repeating Arms Co. New Haven Conn U.S.A.
