Description:
An extremely rare factory engraved Savage 1899 in 303 Savage.Built in 1903,this rifle has "C" or Crescent engraving.It features whitetail deer on each side of the action surrounded by deep cut scroll. The stock and forend are highly figured and are checkered in a pattern similar to the "Victor" grade.The rifle has a 26" octagon barrel with a mint bore.The rifle is in excellent all original condition.It retains 95% of the original blue and wood finish.The lever retains 50% of the original case colors.The wood is sound with no cracks or damage other than a few light handling marks.All roll marks are sharp and crisp.The rifle has a Lyman peep sight installed that appears original to the rifle.I have looked under the peep and there are no cracks in the wood at the tang.This is a rare and all original rifle.I would consider a partial trade for quality guns.C&R eligible.
