Description:
This is a very clean, attractive, and all-original 1943-manufacture Remington 1911A1 pistol complete with the 1943-dated Boyt shoulder holster it was carried in.  This Remington Rand 1911A1 is fresh "out of the woodwork" from the veteran's family and has obviously been well-cared for over the years.  We have been thru this pistol completely and it is 100% original and correct according to Clawson's book on these.  It is in excellent condition overall with 95% of the original Parkerized finish remaining.  As you can see from the pictures, the deductions are from some very minor finish wear that is mainly on the high-edges and around the muzzle from holster carry.  The factory parkerizing is very clean and still shows the contrast lines on the slide from the hardening process, located around the slide-stop notch and about 2 inches back from the muzzle.  The original High Standard factory-blued barrel in this 1911A1 has an excellent bore with nice clean rifling still showing and no visible pitting.  The blued finish on the exterior of the barrel is thin on the chamber area from being fired and shows a little wear towards the muzzle end from contact with the barrel bushing when fired or worked by hand.  The original checkered brown plastic grips on this gun are in excellent shape, free from any cracks, chips, or repairs.  Both sides are are very clean and tight to the grip frame with no wiggle or warping.  All of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order, and the slide to frame fit is excellent without any excessive play or wear.  When worked by hand the action is slick and precise, and when in battery the barrel is tight in the gun with no slop.  This Remington 1911A1 should perform perfectly like it left the factory yesterday rather than 76 years ago!  As mentioned before, this 1911A1 comes with a 1943-dated U.S. Military M3 Boyt leather shoulder holster.  The M3 shoulder holster was often issued to American tank crewman and pilots during the war, and was sought-after by regular infantry in both the Army and U.S.M.C. alike because of the "cool" factor and utility of the design.  This Boyt M3 holster is in excellent shape other than the lower belt strap has been removed by the prior owner.  I guess the soldier that carried it liked it better without it, or had some other gear that interfered with it.  The leather in this shoulder rig is still flexible and soft, all of the original stitching is still intact and tight, and all of the original brass hardware is intact and in good condition.  As you can see from the pictures, the holster is a very attractive dark brown and the original Boyt factory stamps and date are clean and legible.  This WW2 Remington 1911A1 and Boyt shoulder rig make a really neat display together, and would be a great addition to any military or gun collection as an investment.
