This is an unaltered example with rare correct "M.S.A. Gladstone, Michigan" marked (Marbles) receiver sight with the last patent marking of 1905. It also has the correct folding buckhorn rear sight mated with a Sheard marked Marble blade/bead front sight. According to the excellent book by John Henwood, THE 8 and the 81, A History of Remington’s Pioneer Autoloading Rifles, these sights are correct and original offerings for this model. Most of the blue remains on this example with only some light edge wear on the receiver and magazine. Wood is excellent with tight wood to metal fit with a very minor hairline stress crack at bottom of the forend just ahead of the receiver- minor, and Remington embossed hard rubber butt plate is excellent, tight action and takedown, original swivels, excellent sharp bore, even the upper tang retains nice blue. This was the “Remington Assault Rifle” used by Texas Ranger Frank Hamer to take down Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow (Bonnie and Clyde) in 1934!
