Description:

This is a Colt 1848 Dragoon Model revolver manufactured for the Army Ordnance Department in 1854. Serial number #13797.  Numbers are all mathing except the wedge is "3193".  The revolver has the distinctive combination of rounded trigger guard and rectangular cylinder stops that identify it as a Third Model Dragoon revolver. Has 7.5" barrel with a very good bore, showing some pitting. The barrel and cylinder have some remnants of the original  military blue finish, the loading lever, frame and hammer show some remnants of the  color casehardened and the brass trigger guard and back strap are natural brass. The one-piece walnut grip is oil finished and shows some shrinkage and edge loss.  The barrel has a nickel-silver front sight blade. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped: "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY".  Cylinder markings a worn and un-readable. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped: "COLTS/PATENT/U.S." in three lines showing wear , but readable.    The full serial number is stamped on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, back strap. The partial serial number is stamped on the loading lever, and the underside of the cylinder pin. All of the visible serial numbers match.
The revolver retains  traces of the original blue and color casehardened finish in protected areas. Most of the balance of the barrel, loading lever, cylinder, frame and hammer have a smooth, plum brown patina. . . Action is strong and indexes properly and locks up tight. Buyer  pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states.  I accept USPS Money Orders or Bank Cashier's Check. Will accept Personal Check, with shipping hold.Three day, non-firing, non-disassembly, inspection period.
