Description:
Colt Model 1851 Richards-Mason Conversion the .38 colt center-fire. Has 7.5" octagon barrel with a very good bore.
This revolver was manufactured in 1856 and would have likely seen use by the Navy during the Civil War. After the war, it was returned to Colt , in .1872, and converted for use with .38 centerfire ammunition for the Navy using the Richards-Mason system. The top of the barrel has the one-line New York City address, and the bottom has "R. W. M. [anchor]." markings of Commander Richard W. Meade of the U.S. Navy. An additional "U*S*N." mark is found on the butt of the iron grip frame. (It appears to me that the triggerguard and backstrap may be Silver or  Nickel Plated). The frame has the two-line 1871 and 1872 patent marking and traces of the original "COLT/PATENT/US" marking. The matching full serial number is on the major parts. The cylinder is also numbered "2974". This revolver is in  a very beautiful condition .
Has stunning Fire Blue un-marred screw heads.  Has about  80% of the factory refurbished case colors and  Blue patina The ealnut grips show some shrinkage and edge losses. Shows some traces of cylinder scene. The action is strong and indexes properly and locks up tight. .Buyer  pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states.  I accept USPS Money Orders or Bank Cashier's Check. Will accept Personal Check, with shipping hold.Three day, non-firing, non-disassembly, inspection period. If returned, for any reason, full refund, less shipping.  Layaway Available!
