DESCRIPTION: Winchester Model 1886 rifle in caliber 45-70 with all of the standard rifle features - 26" full octagon barrel, full magazine, crescent rifle butt, walnut stocks, blued and case hardened finish. Serial number 32211 had its serial number applied on July 23, 1889, was received in the warehouse on August 2, 1889, and shipped from the warehouse on October 12, 1889 to order number 3827. Cody email info sheet confirms configuration and will be included with the rifle.
CONDITION: Barrel and mag tube have turned a mix of plum and patina with more so on the barrel, there is some mild unobtrusive pinprick pitting on the barrel. Receiver has silvered out with a mix of patina and no original case colors showing. Hammer and lever show traces of original case color. Action and half cock safety both function properly, and the rifle feeds and fires as designed. Fore arm has a crack along the bottom extending half way back from the nose cap. Butt stock is slightly undersized at tangs and butt plate, having been lightly sanded and cleaned after a repair was done to the tight crack coming off the comb, extending about 4" on the left side, not all the way through to the right side and though obvious is also not a huge factor. Bore is good with consistent yet shallow rifling and light frost; still spins a bullet fine. Lyman hunting front sight has been altered. Winchester rear sight intact with correct, albeit reblued, elevator. Respectable entry level collector Model 1886 in the right caliber that grades NRA Antique Good.
