Here we present a Vincenzo Bernardelli for Charles Daly S. Uberto 1 Double Barrel Side by Side Hammerless Shotgun made circa 1959 in Gardone Val Trompia, Brescia, Italy. The early Charles Daly shotguns are considered classic among shooters, hunters, and collectors. Vincenzo Bernardelli has a long family history of making guns, tracing all the way back to 1631 in Gardone Val Trompia when an ancestor married into a gunmaking family. 90 years later, in 1721 the Bernardellis purchased their own manufactory. Finally, in 1865, the namesake of the company, Vincenzo Bernardelli, started his company.
This gun features an engraved and case-colored frame that is marked “V. BERNARDELLI/S. UBERTO 1/GARDONE VT”. This double is equipped with extractors.
The overall condition is very good. The action is strong and tight. The bores are reflective and remain smooth. Very nice wood-to-metal fit. The engraved, case colored frame is truly eye-catching.
