This has to be one of the nicest Smith & Wesson Model 14-3 K-38 Target Masterpiece's in existence. This 6" K-38 Target Masterpiece is loaded out with sought-after factory options; target grips, a target hammer, and a target trigger. Bought new and put into storage until now, this Model 14-3 is unfired and in mint condition. It could pass for being made yesterday rather than 43 years ago. First introduced in 1947, the K-38 Target Masterpiece was Smith & Wesson's finest regular production .38 special target revolver. It quickly earned a reputation for being extremely well made, reliable, and accurate. The original production run lasted for 34 years before being discontinued in 1981. S&W has brought the Model 14 back a couple of times for small production runs since but they lacked the quality feel of the original run guns. This particular example is a Model 14-3 and in addition to all of the target features listed earlier it also has the sought-after pinned barrel and recessed chambers. The original gloss blue finish on this gun is like-new and rates 99%. There is no wear or handling marks present. The only deduction comes from the faintest drag line you can only make out under super close inspection. This is from the action being worked a few times. The color case hardened target trigger and hammer are also like-new, showing bright and vivid colors with 100% coverage and no wear. The bore is mirror-bright and mint with perfect rifling rifling and zero visible imperfections. The 6 cylinder bores are equally as clean and perfect. The factory target grips on this Smith are minty and clean. Both grips have perfect checkering and are free from any wear, chips, cracks, repairs, or imperfections. The grips are perfectly fit to the gun and tight with no wiggle. The action on this K-38 Target Masterpeice is smooth, slick, precise, and perfectly in-time. You really have to feel it in person to appreciate how nicely tuned these are from the factory. All of the controls on this Smith are in perfect working order and it should function 100% like the day it left the factory. This Model 14-3 comes with it's original box with an intact original end-label, the original shipping paper, the owner's manual, various S&W pamphlets, the warranty card, and the original S&W screwdriver for adjusting the rear sight. This Smith & Wesson Model 14-3 would be impossible to upgrade as an addition to any Smith & Wesson collection.
