Description:
"Very Unusual and Possibly One of a Kind John Wurfflein Derringer Pistol. Pictured in the book “The Derringer in America" by Doug Everhart and R. L. Wilson, on page 93. This gun was made by John Wurfflein who was active in the 1840’s-1850’s, in Philadelphia. This gun is much different from other Wurfflein pistols with cast brass furniture. Stock is partially checkered. Ramrod has been replaced since the time it was photographed for the book. The top of the barrel is inlaid in silver “I. Wurfflein". The authors attribute this being made for a Wurfflein family member. The letter “I" will be substituted for a “J" in German, so this may be an early marking by John Wurfflein. Regardless, this is the only one to our knowledge marked like this, and this exact gun is pictured in the book. Very neat unique piece!
