"Texas Shipped Sharps 1874 Mid-Range No. 1 .40 caliber rifle. Very neat gun! 30" half round / half octagon barrel in .40 caliber. Barrel has a brownish gray patina. Bore is excellent. Tang sight stem is missing, but base is numbered to the gun. Wood shows average handling marks. This gun was shipped to Frank Hyde in Galveston, in 1876. Hyde was an agent of the Sharps Rifle Company and did exhibitions. At this time period Galveston was a booming town and one of the largest ports of its period. Very neat Texas gun!
