Large game handgun hunting has gotten much more popular through the years so it is not unusual to go to a shop and find scopes and optics on large caliber stainless steel handguns.
But it wasn't always this way.
31 years ago Smith & Wesson was one of the first to get in this market when they issued this version of their Model 29 (in Blue - not Stainless) that came from the factory with a notched ribbed barrel, and scope rings.
It was cataloged to be issued with the new-for-1989 29-4 model of the gun.
But this one is a 29-3 - so, it's one of the first ones issued by S&W in this configuration.
And it is New In The Box. Unfired. With everything it came with at that time:

Gun has the Herrett grips on it.
