COLT Bisley FLAT TOP TARGET Model SAA Revolver
SCARCE; With Lovely STAG GRIPS; Made in 1899
Here we present a Colt Bisley Flat Top Target Model Single Action Army Revolver, manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut in 1899. This one is chambered in the .38 Long Colt cartridge. These revolvers were designed as the premium Colt target revolver of the day with a redesigned grip frame which provided a better grip angle for competitive target shooting. The term Bisley was actually adopted after a group of British pistol shooters used these very successfully at the Bisley matches in England. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line Colt address markings with the left side of the barrel marked "(Bisley Model) 38 Colt." The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the Colt "three-date/two-line" patent markings followed by the circled Rampant Colt trademark. Total Bisley Flattop production was approximately 976 revolvers, and only 412 were chambered in .38 Long Colt.
The overall condition is very good. The barrel looks newer than the frame. The bore is in fine condition, bright with sharp rifling. The action is strong. This Colt Bisley Flat Top Target Model would make a great addition to your collection, made in 1899!
