Description:
...Most guys wouldn't notice unless they take a real close look! Beautifully engraved 16ga L.C. Smith with 2-3/4" chambers, steel barrels and Lard's Patent (Hunter One) Selective Single Trigger. There's just enough difference/obfuscation, of the lock plate script lettering "L.C. SMXYH" to help avoid a lawsuit. Again, you got to look real close to notice. Apart from the correct 1st type LC Smith patent date markings stamped on the water table, and some Belgian proofs, we don't see any manufacturer markings. Frame has the early, pre-1905 style firing pin bushings.
28" barrels have tight ribs, beautiful factory finish, mirror shiny 0.665" bores, choked 0.020 and left 0.045" (MOD/FULL) Lock up tight to the action, with strong, properly-timed ejectors. Barrel flats stamped 1kg446g, and we verified thats what they actually weigh.
Beautifully figured walnut stock with 13" pull from the single trigger over a vintage "leather face" rubber recoil pad. Initial oval inscribed "H.J. Wicker." Drops measure 1-1/2" comb and 2-1/4" at the heel. Gun weighs 6 lbs 15 oz, and balances at the hinge. Non-automatic safety.
A beautifully made "clone" of a high grade LC Smith...if this were a real Grade 5 16ga, it would be only one of thirty-seven made, and command a price several times higher. A handsome gun, in mechanically fine shape, ready to be used and enjoyed!
