Description:
The Iver Johnson Cattleman series of single action revolvers was manufactured between 1973 and 1978.  Iver Johnson had the Uberti company build them in Italy and then imported them into the States.  They were offered in .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, and .45 LC, and were offered in 3 factory barrel lengths (4.75", 5.5", 7.25").  The Iver Johnson Cattleman features a blued 6-shot cylinder and barrel, a case-hardened frame, a brass triggerguard and backstrap, rod ejection, European Walnut grips, and an automatic hammer block safety.  These Iver Johnson Cattleman revolvers seem to be few and far between today, with most of the examples we have encountered in relatively poor condition.  This particular example is a .45 LC model with a professionally cut-down 3 & 5/8ths" inch barrel and is in very good condition overall.  It is likely a un-fired gun but was stored in a room that had some humidty problems.  As a result, the original factory blue finish on the barrel and cylinder rates 95% with the deductions coming from some spots of finish loss and very minor pitting on the right side of the barrel, and a few tiny spots on the cylinder.  These areas are pictured in the listing.  The color case-hardened frame is beautiful with lots of bright color still showing and only a touch of wear showing, mainly on the loading gate.  The bore in the 3 & 5/8ths" inch barrel is bright and clean with sharp rifling and no pitting.  The cut-down barrel looks factory as whomever did it made sure the cut was straight, the edges are all rounded, and the finish matches the factory blue perfectly.  The cylinder bores are equally as clean as the barrel.  The factory original European Walnut grips are in excellent condition.  The original clear varnish is still fully intact and clean, and there are only a few tiny handling marks visible if you look really closely.  This Iver Johnson is in perfect shape mechanically.  The action is perfectly "in time" whether worked fast or slow, the cylinder locks up tight, and the trigger breaks nicely with a light pull.  This vintage single-action Iver Johnson would be a great addition to any gun collection, and would be a blast to shoot at the range or farm or use in cowboy action shooting.
