This is a very nice, seven-shot, transitional production model without the early push-button hammer block, but an early button-style cylinder pin catch on the right side of the frame. The revolver is retailer marked along the top of the barrel: “JNo. RIGBY & Co. DUBLIN" with Tranter “football" marking on the left side at the breech. The metal retains about 20-25% of the original blue finish on protected areas, with an overall mellow, plum-brown patina, and silvering along the high edges. The checkered walnut grips are in very good-fine shape with scattered small handling marks and some mild flattening of the points. The lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly. This revolver is described and illustrated on pgs. 34 and 35 of “Tranter Cartridge Firearms" by Black, Guerin & Michaud; (2007), and would make a splendid addition to any collection of fine British handguns.
