This is a handsome revolver that has about 50-60% of the original blue finish remaining, mostly on protected areas of the barrel and on the cylinder, and a smooth, plum-brown patina on the balance. The left side of the frame has the “Manacled Hands" Metropolitan Police Model trademark, and deeply struck issue number on the left side: “POLICE 704" (unfortunately, we do not know which police service issued the gun). The trigger guard is slightly misshapen due to an impact at some point in its service life. The hammer, trigger, ejector assembly, and lanyard swivel have an overall plum-brown patina mixing with mottled gray throughout, and the checkered walnut grip has numerous handling marks and bruises, with light flattening of the points. The action is fully functional, but the cylinder lock-up is a trifle loose. This very revolver is pictured on pg. 128 of “Webley Solid Frame Revolvers - Models RIC, MP, and No. 5" by Black, Davis, and Michaud; (2010). This is a fine example of a desirable, police-issued, solid-frame Webley, and would make a great addition to any collection.
