Description:
General Specs: AYA, Year 2005, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 6oz, Chokes IC/M, LOP 14 7/8", DAH 2 3/8", DAC 1 3/8"
Serial Number: 262-05

From the AyA : The N° 4 has been AYA’s standard boxlock design since 1960. It is modelled on a Westley Richards boxlock action, brought to Spain by the King brothers. The Anson & Deeley action, the most famous of all boxlock designs, was created by two employees of Westley Richards in 1875, and ever since, Westley Richards guns have defined boxlock elegance.  When reviewing this gun, sn262-05 built in 2005, it is a fine upland gun indeed.  Weighing 6lbs. 6oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin with its long, graceful 29” barrels choked IC/M, you can carry this gun all day with little fatigue.  The 16ga. chambering is known to be deadly on pheasants, grouse, quail, dove, woodcock and all upland game, with the old saying that it “carries like a 20 and shoots like a 12” being quite literal.  The 16ga. is considered a “square load”, just as high in the shot cup as it is round, and it is known for short shot strings and extraordinary killing patterns.  The condition is 99% factory with just a little wear on the bottom of the receiver and tiny light field marks in the wood.  The wood is very nicely figured English walnut, nicer than most of the same model you will see offered for sale.  This simple boxlock ejector gun has some very high-end features, like chopper-lump barrels (long heralded as the very best method of joining the barrels and utilized mostly in "BEST GUNS" from the likes of Purdey and Holland & Holland) and removable striker disc-set firing pins, features usually only found on much more expensive guns.  We have priced this gun very affordably and it is a hard to find combination of 16ga. and 29” barrels.  The same gun new is about $6200 MSRP.  The receiver retains 99% bone and charcoal case color and is in perfect mechanical condition, with strong well-timed ejectors and crisp double triggers.  These are known to be highly reliable guns, and this one has nice wood, a full-length stock with a checkered butt, perfect weight and balance, so it will not last long.  Buy it now and you have time to practice with her before the next bird season is upon us!  Thanks for looking.
