Here is a nice old S&W DA .44-40 This one was nickel and still shows nice nickel on the cylinder. The rest is greying but no pitting. Barrel is 5". Bore is generally very good with some roughness back toward the cylinder. It should shoot black powder loads fine. Action works perfectly with the ejector pushing out the cases as it should. Lock up is good and the action seems tight. These were all antiques with the frames made before 1898. Grips are fine- worn and original with no chips or cracks.
