Description:
Spectacular relief engraved and gold inlaid Winchester 20 gauge model 21 double barrel shotgun with Pachmayr family inscription. Serial no. 31594, 20/45 gauge, 26 inch vent rib barrel, blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Manufactured circa 1954-55 and subsequently beautifully master embellished with fine scroll engraving on the action, break lever, trigger guard, and forarm hardware. Bordering amid the scroll patterns are gold inlaid highlights and the receiver also has contrasting relief engraved ducks and an eagle in marsh scenes on the left side and contrasting relief engraved hunting dog and two pheasants in wooded scenes on the right side. The underside has three contrasting ducks. The barrels are finished blue, and the remaining metal surfaces have a coin finish. The underside of the Winchester proof steel barrels are marked "MOD" and "IMP-CYL". Single trigger with selector, tang mounted manual saftey and mounted with a fancy bordered fluer-de-lis checkered nicely figured walnut semi beaver tail forearm and pistol grip stock with teardrop flats, a brass cap and solid Pachmayr Presentation Model recoil pad. The grip cap is inscribed "DONATED BY /NANITTA & FRANK/PACHMAYR". In Extremely fine condition as professionally upgraded by Pachmayr with gold and contrasting precious metal inlays that have been masterfully done. 98% of the blue finish remains on the barrels and some light wear under the forearm, Nearly all of the coin finish remains and all of the gold contrasting inlays remain. The wood shows only light handling/storage marks, and the checkering is sharp. Mechanically excellent. A fabulous example of a Pachmayr Winchester Model 21 collection.
