Description:
"Confederate Bowie knife possibly Cook and Brothers. This is one of the mystery blades of the Confederacy where no one knows exactly who made it, but it is agreed to be a Confederate made bowie! Some well-known dealers and collectors attribute the manufacturing to Cook and Brothers of New Orleans. These knives have an unusual ring on the guard, some examples have just one ring, others have two rings. These were originally thought to be made as bayonets, but are unfinished on the inside and have no way to attach. They are more commonly accepted to have been there in case the knives were to be used as a pike. Just a hair over 12". Blade has gray patina. Comes wit a well-worn original scabbard that has been shrink wrapped to a board to protect it.
