Description:
Mdl 1878 DA .45lc with 7 1/2” Bbl and
Blue finish. Ser # 42677. Engraved and Inscribed. Mechanics are excellent and locks up tight. Some original Blue on Bbl and ejector housing, cyl flutes and protected areas otherwise grey-blue patina with crisp markings. Engraving is identical to a Factory Helfricht Engraved example shown in the Book of Colt Engraving. Inscribed “Captain R.C. Mossman” quick google search shows the only one I could find in time period of Gun was a R.C. Mossman on the Ship “Scotia” on the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition of 1903. Very nice piece that would be a great addition to any Collection. Always consider trades or partial trades of Antique Colt SAA, Percussion Colts, Winchester 1866 Src or .44c 1873’s
