Description:
Ottoman Moroccan Mukahla Musket called "Altit" type of migulet firing long musket of about the19th century or earlier . This style is usually found in the Little Atlas Mountains /region of soiuthern Morocco., sometimes considered in decoration to the "Affedali" musket but the stock is more turned down. //these were fired from horse abck or camel back by being held under the arm pit and the righr hand up above the lock by about 6" . depending on the length os the riders arms and the left hand is on the reins.The overall length of thissmooth bore muskwt is about 60 1/2" long with a typical flared muzzle barrel of about 49" long. The hand crafted lock works well, witha very strong mainspring.The butt-stock has multitude of camel bone inlays and a few are missing, but still very decorative. Still has the leather strap used as a sling intact, which is rare to find as the dry weather would destroy leather over a long period of time,. The barrel band of native brass/copper are engraved with native designses with a hammer forged ram-rod, but doubt it has been out of the stock channel for a long time. Each of these muskets will be different as they are all hand made and the more decorative the higher the position of it's owner in society!
