Description:
The Ruger Super Redhawk revolver was introduced in 1987 as a replacement for Ruger’s Redhawk double action revolver. Its design featured a reinforced and enlarged GP100 frame, and like most Ruger revolvers, a longer cylinder than most competitors, allowing hand loaders to use hot loaded .44 Magnum rounds. Handloaders could either use a heavier powder charge or heavier, and therefore longer, bullet without compromising the powder load or bullet weight, or combination thereof. In fact, there are some .44 Magnum loads sold on the market which will have “Ruger only” printed on the box. Like the GP100 and Redhawk, the Super Redhawk used a latch in the crane, to firmly lock the cylinder at front and rear, providing a strong lock-up. The Super Redhawk has since become popular among hunters and trappers both as hunting pistol and as a bear defense gun. The revolver has a 7.5” barrel with a red ramp front sight and adjustable rear sights. The grip is a Hogue Tamer – a one-piece rubber grip designed for better control during firing. The finish is a satin stainless for better resistance to the elements. The revolver is in great condition both outside and inside. The bore is unusually clean compared to the cylinder face which has powder burns. This is common on revolvers as this is the most difficult part of the gun to clean. The stainless finish exhibits minor surface-only scratches in a few places. According to the Ruger , this Super Redhawk left the factory in 2014. The original box is present, as well as the manual. There is also a pair of Ruger scope rings for mounting a scope. Ruger revolvers are some of the most popular for handgun hunting. They have been used to hunt many deer over the years. If you are looking to get into big-bore handgun hunting, the Super Redhawk is a fine choice.
