Unusual Percussion .36 caliber double rifle by John Smith. (No state named.) We feel this is a Vermont or New. Hampshire rifle. Frank Sellers book, American Gunsmiths lists about 20 John Smiths. The form and stock contours appear to be Vermont or New Hampshire. This rifle has a single adjustable set trigger that functions for both barrels. You just cock and set and fire one barrel, then repeat for the other. If you cock and set and fire both barrels, then they fire together. Gun has a folding ""Lollipop"" rear sight as well as barrel sight. Both barrels are rifled and appear to have good bores. Barrel length is 32"" and 48"" overall. Nice double rifle in very good condition.
