Description:
Offering a 16 ga. Flues model that was specially engraved by Jack Clance for factory employee Jay Leech. Jay started his long Ithaca Gun career in 1915 as an apprentice engraver. His pay was 10 cents an hour. Circa 1916/17, Jay bought a 16 ga. "S" grade (Field grade with fluid steel barrels) and a fellow engraver by the name of Jack Clance who Jay sais sat next to him. Clance did a magnificant work with multiple birds on each side of the frame and the Sousa mermaid on the trigger plate. See the photos. It wears an old, partially deformed sunburst pad. This gun is illustrated on page 173 of my book, The Ithaca Gun Company from the Beginning, both first and second editions.
Jay's gun has been in my collection for many years but I am aging out. This is a one of a kind gun-a true Ithaca treasure.
