Payment Types Accepted: cash, check, money order Description: This is an identified Civil War Smith & Wesson No.2 Army. It was owned originally by Private Francis E. King, 17th Michigan Infantry. He was KIA at Antietam ,Md on 17 Sept. 1862. That day was the biggest loss of life of Americans in a military battle in one day. He enlisted 13 August 1862 into Co. E of the 17th. He was killed a little over amonth later. The gun was probably used by someone else after as there is no finish left. Maybe a Union comrade or a Confederate who picked it up after the battle. The answer has been lost to time. Gun was made in early 1862. The gun is tight as most are loose .Bore is decent with good rifling. No finish remains. Rosewood grips have most original varnish left. Very hard to find identied KIA civil war revolvers, especially ones from Antietam or Gettysburg. Please call 973-214-3407 with questions or other pics SOLD Antique: Yes |
