Description:
This is a spectacular all-original and unfired Ruger 10/22 rifle made in 1976 during America's Bicentennial.  These Ruger rifles were stamped with "Made In The 200th Year Of American Liberty" on the barrel to celebrate the occasion.  We just acquired this beautiful 10/22 which appears to be completely unfired, it still even had the original price tag on it from "Summers Hardware & Supply Company" in Johnson, Tennessee with the original retail price of $119.95 on it (included with rifle).  This rifle was bought new and put into storage where it has remained until now, and if not for some very minor storage/handling marks on the gun it would be 100% pristine.  This 1976 Ruger 10/22 displays a high level of craftsmanship, construction from high quality materials, and great attention to fit and finish that Ruger was famous for during this time but has sadly been lost over the years to make things faster, cheaper, and more "efficient".  This handsome 10/22 features a blow-back operated semi-automatic action, a gloss blue factory finish on all of the steel parts, a black anodized factory finish on all of the alloy parts, an 18" inch barrel with factory iron sights, a detachable 10-shot rotary magazine, an alloy receiver factory drilled and tapped for optics mounts, a polished bright bolt, and a smooth pistol-grip style American Walnut stock.  These early-production guns have top-quality metal trigger housings, buttplates, and barrel bands whereas the newer production guns use a polymer plastic.  As you can see from the pictures, the factory blue finish as well as the anodized black finish are in excellent condition overall, rating 98% plus.  The only deductions from the factory finishes come from a tiny bit of finish wear on the left hand high-edge of the receiver, a small nick in the finish on the triggerguard bow, and some tiny marks on the upper curved edge of the buttplate.  None of these deductions stand out when looking at the rifle and are only visible under close inspection.  The bore in this Ruger is mirror-bright and pristine.  The rifling still looks brand-new with sharp lands and grooves throughout the 18" inch barrel, and there is zero visible wear, erosion, imperfections, or evidence of having been fired.  Besides being stamped with the Bicentennial motto on the left side of the barrel, this barrel is stamped on the top with only the Ruger address "Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. Southport, Conn. U.S.A.".  There is no "Warning" stamp on this early gun, and as a result it has a much cleaner and more handsome look to it.  The throat of this barrel is perfect, as-is the extractor cut-out.  The polished bright bolt is in like-new condition with a mirror-bright surface and no visible wear marks.  The bolt has a perfect face on it with no visible mechanical wear or brass transfer, and the action is pristine with no carbon build-up or powder fouling.  The original factory stock on this vintage 10/22 is a beautiful piece of high-quality American Walnut.  It's a far cry from the hardwood Beech they used on later guns.  The grain in this Walnut is tight and strong, a very solid piece of wood that is perfect for a gun stock.  The stock is in excellent condition overall, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, wear, or major dings/dents.  It has not been modified or altered in any way, and it has never had sling swivels added to it.  As mentioned before, the only deductions on the stock are from some very minor handling/storage marks in the wood.  None of these marks are eyesores, and quite frankly most are only visible under very close examination at the right angle.  There are close-up pictures provided of these spots at the precise angle needed for them to show up well enough for photos.  All of the original factory stock hardware is intact and in excellent condition including the metal buttplate and barrel band, and the original action screw that holds the gun tight to the wood is in perfect shape.  The action on this Ruger 10/22 is slick and smooth, and it goes into battery perfectly.  All of the controls function like-new, and the trigger breaks cleanly with a light pull.  We have no doubt that this Ruger 10/22 will function 100% like the day it left the factory 44 years ago.  This Ruger comes complete with it's original 10-round rotary magazine, which is also in like-new and 100% functional condition.  If you have been looking for an all-original vintage Ruger 10/22 for your collection, here is your chance to get the nicest Bicentennial production example we have had in many years.  You simply don't see Ruger 10/22's around that are this old and still unfired and in excellent condition.
