This is an absolutely beautiful all-original 2nd Series Colt Woodsman Sport Model .22 pistol manufactured in 1949. These 2nd Series Woodsmans are quite desireable with collectors and shooters alike, as the push button magazine release located behind the trigger is preferred by many to the heel release of the 1st and 3rd Series guns. This Colt Woodsman Sport Model displays all of the top quality fit and finish Colt was well known for the in 1940's and 1950's, along with a beautiful glossy dark blue factory finish rating 97 to 98%. The multi-color Coltwood grips and backstrap on this particular gun are also quite spectacular, with lots of bright reds and swirling that really set off the blue finish on the gun. The bore in this Colt is minty and mirror-bright, with nice sharp rifling throughout the 4.5" inch barrel and has no visible imperfections or pitting. The grips are in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. The slide to frame fit is superb on this Colt, and the action is slick and precise. It is obvious that this Woodsman has lived a very easy life since leaving the factory. All of the controls on this gun are in perfect working order, including the adjustable rear target sight. We have no doubt that this Colt will function just as well today as it did in 1949. If you have been looking for a classy and attractive semi-auto .22 pistol for your collection this 2nd Series Woodsman Sport would be an excellent choice.
