Description:
Savage model 99F in 308 Win.Built in 1957,this rifle has a combination of old style features and new features that make this an unusual rifle.The old style features include the lever safety,brass shell counter,hand cut checkered stock and forend,cocking indicator,steel buttplate,factory drilled for a tang sight,and case colored lever.The new features include a jeweled bolt,a flip down rear sight,factory drilled and tapped for Weaver scope bases,and of course the 308 caliber.This rifle is in excellent all original condition.It retains 98% of the original blue and wood finish.The stock is sound with no cracks or damage.The rifle has never had a scope installed.It has however had a tang sight at some time which left a very faint outline on the receiver.Otherwise super condition.The bore is mint with sharp rifling.According to Murray's book "The Ninety-Nine" this configuration was only built in 308 from 1957 to 1960.After 1960 they dropped many of the older features such as the lever safety.This is a very hard to find rifle in this caliber and configuration.C&R eligible.
