This Remington 1894, side cock, single barrel 12 GA. shotgun belonged to my grandfather. Seeing him shoot it when i was a kid, I called it "Grandpa's Cannon." He died in 1970, and I had not seen it until recently when we were clearing my father's house. amd found it hidden in the back corner of a closet.
Overall it is in good condition (judge from pics) with very nice patena. Below are issues that I'm aware of:
- Side cocking mechanism appears to have replacement screw and washer plate (it does cock).
- Missing a stock screw, and one of butt pad screws is replacement.
- Firing pin is loose or broken
- Stock in grip area has been split and somewhat repaired
- Does not latch tightly (possibly spring broken?)

Top tang of receiver - "REMINGTON ARMS CO., ILION, NY U.S.A. PAT OCT 30, 1894"
Bottom tang - 108959
Flange of barrel - 108959
Inside wood forearm - 108959
Barrel is inscribed under forearm with 4 digit number and possibly maker's mark "P"
Top of barrel - "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION NY U.S.A."
Bore of barrel is smooth. Stock and forearm are American walnut and unrefinished. I'm sure that someone more qualified than me could restore this to become another person's "Cannon."
