Description:
Serial #3842w, 9mm Para., 5" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a “byf/44" coded pistol with matching numbers on the slide, frame, barrel, and locking block. The metal retains 90-92% of the original blue finish with traces of mild silvering along the exposed edges and projections and along the bearing surfaces of the slide and frame. The Waffenamt marks are still crisp and nearly all of the original white and red paint remains on the “S" and “F" within the safety/de-cocker relief cut. The black phenolic resin grips are in fine shape and only have a few minor handling blemishes, mostly around the butt on either side. The pistol is housed in a post-war German Polizei flap holster that has moderate surface wear and flaking, but is also numbered to the gun on the interior. Two Waffenamt stamped magazines are also included, and there is a very small and unobtrusive import marking on the underside of the barrel. This is a very nice Third Reich P.38, that rates fine-near excellent condition; and survived with its wartime markings intact when it was repurposed for police use. FFL or C&R
