.72 cal smooth bore, NVSN, barrel shortened to 23 inches, uneven cut, brown finish overall, military style full stock shortened to match barrel, lock appears French or American military, unmarked, pinned barrel, brass butt plate appears to be from earlier smaller stock, trigger guard made of sheet metal, side plate from a firearm with smaller lock, English barrel proofs, 1790's.
Possibly put together for the fur trade.
Condition: bore of no consequense to firearm value, metal surfaces show age oxidation, hammer does not stand, lots of dings on wood, good marks
