This is an outstanding example of a Confederate Robinson Type 2 Richmond Va. Carbine serial number 3802. This is by far the best example to come to market in quite some time, there a few other examples for sale for $12,500-16,000 but none compare condition-wise to this, This example is much better in every aspect. The wood stock and forearm are excellent condition with no cracks and only light handling. the forearm has the correct half moon inlet. The barrel exhibits a fantastic patina with a strong "Richmond Va." marking. Mechanically the carbine functions excellent and has a very nice bore. The saddle bar has a small "1" stamped. This is in exceptional condition for a Confederate arm. A similar conditioned example has sold once for $17,000 and then next time over $28,000 through a well known house.
