Description:

Martially marked U.S. Smith & Wesson Schofield Second Model Single Action Revolver with Factory Letter.
Manufactured in 1876, this Schofield revolver has the standard fixed blade front sight and notch rear sight. The two-line Smith & Wesson address and patent dates are marked on the left side of the barrel and the Schofield patent markings on the reverse. The matching numbers are present on the rear of the cylinder and on the butt. It has smooth walnut grips (right grip marked 4634) with a "light"James Rockwells Jr.s cartouche on the left and a "CW" cartouche on the right (likely for Charles Woodman). "US" is marked ahead of the serial number on the butt. The included factory letter confirms that this model is a "Model 3 Schofield, Second Model" that was designed for use by the United States Army. The revolver left the Smith & Wesson factory on October 12, 1876 and was delivered to the U.S. Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. The letter also provides some details about the Schofield revolvers in general including the fact that 5285 of these revolvers were sold to the government at a price of $13.50 each .  The condition of this revolver is ,Fine, as refinished.
The revolver retains 90% of the bright refinished  blue .  . All markings are clear. The hammer retains the rich case colors while the trigger guard has silvered out to a gray patina. . The grips are very good with some light abrasions and a couple small nicks. Mechanically excellent. Buyer  pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states.  I accept USPS Money Orders or Bank Cashier's Check. Will accept Personal Check, with shipping hold.  3%  Credit Card Fee!  Three day, non-firing, non-disassembly, inspection period.
