Personal Check with hold Description: Here is an original Fourth Model version of the popular 1851 Colt Navy Revolver in very good overall condition. One of the most sought after models ever produced by Samuel Colt’s firm in Hartford, Connecticut was the Colt Navy pistol, a premier medium caliber handgun. Sam Colt designated the term ‘Navy’ to imply the caliber (.36) of the weapon, and later used the term ‘Army’ for its heavier .44 caliber companion, the Colt Model 1860 Army. Manufactured sometime in 1861 . This weapon bears matching serial number #103132, marked on its components including the wedge and grip. With a .36 caliber, six-shot cylinder, this percussion revolver was one of the 215,000 Colt Navy sidearms made through 1873. The weapon features an octagonal 7½” long barrel with attached loading lever. Barrel address reads “ADDRESS COL. SAM’L COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA”. All gunmetal exhibits a light blue and brown sheen overall. Mechanics are good at half cock and full cock positions. Crisp indexing. Cylinder bears a lot of the roll-engraved naval engagement scene between the Republic of Texas Navy and the Mexican Navy. Cylinder has a shiny, light gray patina along with some light mottling over the scene. All cylinder pins are intact as are nipples and are nit not chipped or broken. Octagonal barrel with some bluing remaining, also frame, hammer and attached loading lever exhibits some original case hardening. “COLTS PATENT” stamp on the left of frame is thin but clear. Frame screws are excellent and un-molested. The original, one-piece varnished walnut grips are in good condition with a small repair to left lower side .There are no military inspector cartouches. It has approx. 50% of original silver wash on the brass trigger guard and backstrap. All of the remaining brass has a nice bronze patina. Buyer pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states.
