Description: DESCRIPTION: Colt 1851 Navy 6-shot percussion revolver, 6 shot cylinder, 36 caliber, with standard 7.5" octagon barrel, brass trigger guard and back strap, walnut grips, naval engagement scene on cylinder, blued and case hardened finish, brass cone front sight, serial number 201240, made 1867. CONDITION: Barrel retains 50% bright original blue with the balance toning to plum/patina and a sharp barrel address. Loading lever retains 5% original case colors with the balance a plum/patina. Frame exhibits 10% original case colors with the balance plum/patina. Cylinder retains 10% original blue with the balance patina and 100% cylinder scene including the patent/partial serial number and engagement date, which is typically worn away. Brass trigger guard and back strap show a nice ochre color with some of the original silver plate remaining, having tarnished to a streaky gray-brown color. Original walnut grips have never been cleaned, sanded or refinished and retain 85% of the original varnish with the loss down along the bottom edges; no cracks, splits or repairs either. Action is super-tight and crisp with no cylinder wiggle whatsoever, strong main spring and very positive clicks on all notches. All numbers match right down to the wedge and cylinder pin. Bright shiny bore with sharp rifling and only a few very minor scattered oxidation spots. This revolver was very well taken care of and defies its age having survived in this condition for over 150 years. Grades NRA Antique Fine and certainly a complete, original, untouched specimen that will make a nice addition to anyone's collection. Other Colts of this vintage and condition having been selling around 3K and higher at the houses lately so this one is priced right! TERMS: No international sales.
