Here is the prettiest Colt 1911 C- prefix in my collection. The deep high polish blue is flawless, and the leftover military plastic grips are as new. I think the checkered hammer and safety are military leftovers also.These post WW2 Colt commercials that utilized leftover military contract are hard to find, and almost impossible in this condition. I've seen NIB guns that do not look this good. Bore is bright as a new pistol, and this one is 73 years old! Note it's original price tag from Tru-Test Hardware is still attached, even though it is NOT $66.00 anymore. The only thing that would upgrade this, would be if the gentleman I got it from would have saved the box. I truely believe that the last time this gun was fired, was at the Colt factory test.
