Description:
This is a very nice all-original and handsome Colt Police Postive Special revolver in .32-20 WCF caliber. This factory nickel gun was manufactured in 1925 and displays the superb fit and finish that Colt's are well-known for from that time period. The double-action "1st Issue" Police Positive Special was introduced in 1907 and remained in production until 1927. It was offered in .32-20 WCF, .32 New Police, .38 New Police, or .38 Special, and was offered in a 4", 5", or 6" inch barrel. Very similar to the Police Positive, the square-butt Police Positive Special incorporated a longer frame and cylinder to handle the .38 Special and .32-20 WCF cartridges. The Police Positive Special model proved to be an excellent revolver for the Colt firm, reliable, accurate, and good-looking. This particular example features a factory nickel plated finish, a 4" inch barrel with fixed iron sights, a six-shot cylinder, and factory black hard rubber checkered grips. It is all-original and has not been altered or "improved" by anyone along the way. The original factory nickel finish is still very attractive and shows only some very light wear and some minor handling marks. As you can see from the pictures, there are no bad spots or "eyesores" that detract from the clean overall look of this Colt. The bore in the 4" inch barrel is excellent, showing sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and no visible pitting or imperfections. The six cylinder bores are equally as clean. The original factory grips are in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/scratches. Both grips are numbered to the gun on the reverse, and both grips are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the frame with no wiggle. The checkering on design work on both grip panels is clean and crisp. The action on this Colt is perfectly in time and very smooth, typical of these hand-fit pre-war guns. At full-lock the cylinder locks up perfectly tight with no slop or play in it. All of the controls on this Police Positive Special are in perfect working order, and we have no doubt that this revolver would function today 100% like the day it left the factory 95 years ago! If you have been looking for one of these little beauties for your collection here is your chance to get a really nice all-original example at a great price.
