Description:
This 1851 Colt Navy Brevette was manufactured in Belgium under a license from Colt. They were sold for less money than an actual 1851 Navy. Many officers in the Civil War, both Union and Confederate bought and carried  them as they were required to purchase their own weapons. Depending on their financial situation, they bought the Brevette instead of the actual Colt for less money. This Brevette was purchased and carried by a brave officer who enlisted first in the 66th Pa and then it consolidated into the 73rd Pa. He fought with the 73rd up until his death at Chancelorsville, Va. on 3 May 1863. The action is fine. The revolver has some minor pitting in spots. It is tight as a drum and has matching numbers. The number on the butt strap is an assembly number. A binder full of imformation is accompaning the revolver. Please call 973-214-3407
