Description:
Serial #238496 is .38 WCF with 4 3/4” barrel and a very good to perhaps near fine bore which shows strong evident rifling but with some scattered pitting its full-length. None of the screws are visibly marred, they are in great shape. The action works perfectly and the gun locks up tight.  There is no play in the cylinder.  Configuration confirmed in Colt Archives letter.

This is a great old Colt with a very frontier-look to it. I purchased this for my collection, and am selling it because I have been able to aquire another Omaha shipped SAA that is an antique, and another that is in high condition.  Take advantage!!

The metal surfaces are primarily a smooth pewter-gunmetal gray patina with remnants of light brown oxidation staining in some areas of scattered pinprick pits. There is strong trace original blue in the flutes of the ejector rod housing and interior of the triggerguard, the trigger itself actually showing a good deal of original blue, with some traces hiding atop the knuckle.

The cylinder shows remnants of light pitting, perhaps lightly cleaned some time ago. The markings remain clear and legible, the very beginning of the two-line patent marking atop the barrel is light. The numbers are matching although it would appear as though the triggerguard was neatly re-numbered to match. (The triggerguard could be a replacement, but appears to be correct for the period, just a few years later as it has the VP triangle).  The most endearing quality of the gun is its checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt grips which are now worn nearly smooth from use and carry.

Each of the grips has been notched neatly with notches, the left with six, the right with five. They are numbered “1816” on their interior, but this does not appear to be factory numbering.  Their fit is perfect and they have clearly been on this gun for a very long time. Now, here is the GREAT part........The factory letter confirms the caliberm barrel length and blue finish, grips "not listed", and shows shipment in February 1903 to Lee, Glass, Andreesen Hardware of Omaha Nebraska in a 15 gun shipment. A salty 117-year-old gunfighter-length Colt that’s clearly “been there and done that".

This Colt SAA can be shipped from my C&R/FFL to yours. C&R/FFL's with signatures can be sent via fax, e-mail or regular mail.   Many States have very restrictive gun laws. Be certain that you are allowed to own this gun in your area before you bid.  Firearm will be shipped within 24 hours of C&R/FFL receipt and payment clearance.  Shipping within the continental U.S. ONLY.   As a collector, I am not set up to accept credit cards.

There is a 3 day non-firing inspection period starting when it arrives. A return (minus shipping charges) will ONLY be accepted if the item is NOT AS DESCRIBED in this listing. I will not accept returns due to change of mind, buyer’s remorse, etc.
