#39177, Gebruder Merkel, Suhl: A 16 Bore Classic and Proper Period Suhl Made Gebruder Merkel O/U Model 201E Boxlock Ejector that was made in 1954, 28" Solid Rib Ejector Bohler Steel barrels at .667 .007 & .021" (Imp. Cyl. & Imp. Mod.), Original 2 3/4" chambers, Bolstered frame, Scalloped frame, Double triggers with the front articulated, 3 piece game forend, Pistol grip stock at 14 3/16 x 1 5/8 x 2 3/4" over a later Merkel buttplate with the Merkel name, Cast-Off for the right hand, 6 lbs. 4 oz., Sling eye on the barrel and the buttstock sling eye removed, No cheekpiece, 80% coverage of scroll and game scene engraving, Fairly nice wood, Both the forend and buttstock match well, Horn grip cap, The original barrel blue remains at 90%, The trigger guard & tang blue is 80%, The original frame finish remains at 96-97%, The striker holes are perfect, The stock finish is at 90-92%, The checkering is at 97%, It has 2 retainer screws on key screws, The barrels inside & out remain excellent plus and almost look like they did in 1954. A very solid and original gun in every respect and will last a lifetime of upland shooting. It has great weight; super stock dimensions and is a very good value for the money from the great era of everything Suhl, Germany.
