Description:
This is an extremely fine original Hicks knife from the Civil war period. One of probably 25-35 known. 9" clip point bade. Original scabbard. Original grips are gorgeous. Markings on wood are "A.G.HICKS" "MAKER" "CLEV'D O." in three lines. I rate this knife as one of the top 4 known. All screws on handle are perfect. Brass is gorgeous. Blade has some minor spotting as seen in pics, but no pitting. These knives were for years thought to have been made in the late 1830's or early 1840's. That has been proven inaccurate. Probably made late 1850's just before the war. A couple of period images of soldiers are known with Hicks knives. RARE,RARE, RARE. PLEASE CALL 973-214-3407
