Description:
LC Smith Model-F hammer guns with 99% original case-coloring coverage, that is brilliant in multiple places, are rare.  This 12-gauge gun, which was manufactured in 1923, was among the last few thousand produced.  The wood and barrels have been properly maintained over the last century.  The American black walnut stock is exceptionally well-figured for a Model F.  Both the bores and exterior of the 28” fluid-steel barrels are excellent.  The chambers are 2-3/4.”  The barrels are choked Skeet (.006) and Improved Modified (.025).  The bores 9” from the breech are both .733”, and the muzzle outside diameters are both .835”.  The wall thickness (top/side/bottom) for the right barrel at 9” from muzzle is 041/.040/.040 and at the middle of the barrel is .039/.041/.043.  The wall thicknesses for the left barrel are .038/.038/.037 and .045/.044/.042, respectively.  This shotgun weighs 7 pounds 10 ounces.  The drop at the comb is 1-3/4” and at the heel 2-3/4”.  Length of pull is 14-1/2 inches from the front trigger to the end of a 3/4” Kick-Ease recoil pad.  All serial numbers, H 59003, match.   The gun locks up tight and is on face.  All serial numbers, H 59003, match.

The price does not include shipping costs paid by buyer.  The inspection period is 7 days from receipt.  This shotgun has been fired on the range many occasions using standard target loads, and in the field hunting waterfowl with shells loaded with bismuth shot.  However, as for any vintage shotgun, it is recommended that the new owner have it inspected by his or her own gunsmith before firing.  The gun carries a 30-day warranty, during which Doublegun Preservation, LLC will have any mechanical problems documented by a professional gunsmith repaired or accept the return of the gun and refund the price of the gun and all shipping costs.  Please do not hesitate to call with questions Stephen Wesbrook at 703-625-4830.
