This mid-1970's production Sako Finnbear is in excellent overall condition and obviously has been well-cared for over the years. The Garcia firm imported the highly-regarded Finnish-made Sako rifles from 1971 to 1978. The Sako Finnbear was first introduced in 1961 as the firm's rifle designed for long cartridges like the .30-06 and .270 Winchester. It quickly earned a reputation for being a superb rifle, accurate, reliable, well-made, and attractive. These days these vintage Finnbears can be found all over the world in the hands of discriminating shooters and collectors alike. It is well known as being one of the staple Sako rifles that should be in every serious rifle collection. This lightly-used Finnbear features a L61R action with integral Sako-style optics bases, a gloss-blue factory finish, a 24" inch barrel with no iron sights, an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, a tang-mounted 2-position safety, and a hand-checkered European Walnut stock with factory sling swivel studs and a Sako-branded recoil pad. The factory finish is still beautiful, showing only a few spots of thinning and some very minor handling marks. The bore in this Finnbear is pristine and mirror-bright. The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves and there is no visible erosion, pitting, or imperfections of any kind. The original stock is in excellent condition as well, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/dents. The checkered panels are still crisp and clean, and all of the factory hardware including the recoil pad is intact and in excellent shape. The action on this Sako has to be felt to truly be appreciated, it is butter-smooth and extremely precise feeling. There is no unwanted extra movement and the bolt turns into lock with perfection. All of the controls on this rifle are in 100% perfect working order, and the trigger is exceptional, breaking like a thin glass rod with a very light pull without any grit or excessive travel. This Sako should function just as well today as the day it left the factory over 40 years ago. If you have been looking for one of these classics for your collection this mid-1970's production Finnbear would be an excellent choice. You could carry this rifle into any hunting camp in the world with pride.
