Description:
This 1937 dated Krieghoff Luger was part of the first contract of 10,000 pistols for Nazi Germany's Luftwaffe (Air Force). Most of these Lugers were issued to the Luftwaffe's elite paratroopers called Fallschirmjägers. This pistol is completely original with all-matching numbers (excluding the magazine). The condition is very good with between 90 to 93% of the original gloss blue factory finish remaining. The majority of the finish wear is on the grip straps, the high edges of the frame, and a spot on the left side of the barrel. This spot on the barrel appears to be a result of some surface rust being removed which also removed some of the bluing. All of the factory stampings and Luftwaffe proofs are crisp and clean. The original "straw" golden-yellow finish on the trigger, safety lever, and ejector is worn but shows some trace color in the protected areas. The original checkered brown plastic grips are in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or damage. Both grips are perfectly fit to the gun and tight with no wiggle. The bore in this Krieghoff is excellent, bright and clean with no pitting or visible imperfections. All of the controls on this Luger are in perfect working order and the toggle-action locks up nice and tight. We have no doubt that this pistol would function now just as well today as the day it left the factory. Due to the low production numbers, the exceptional quality fit and finish, and the elite German Luftwaffe paratrooper connection, these Krieghoff Lugers have always been in great demand and are excellent investments.
