For sale is a very nice William Powell Pigeon gun with nice condition and interesting provenance! It was made in 1946 and was one in a group of guns headed for Melbourne, Australia! The barrels are marked Made for David Mackintosh Melbourne Australia. David Mackintosh made quite a name for himself in shooting circles in the early years of the 20th Century. He was a world champion pigeon shooter and Olympic champion. I'm including biographical information, a copy of one of his catalogs as a gun dealer and copies of gunmaker William Powell's original records from 1946. Now some information about the gun! It's got 30 inch barrels bored full and full. (.032). The chamber's are 2 3/4 inches and the gun is proofed for 1 1/4oz loads and has selective ejectors. The gun has side clips and is triple bolted for maximum durability. The bores and mechanics are excellent. The gun is tight and on face. A good amount of case colors remain and the blue is good, showing some thinning on the barrels where you would grip the gun while shooting. The stock dimensions are suitable for many and are 14 3/4x 1 7/16 x 2 1/4 inches. The gun weighs 8 pounds even and the safety is non-automatic as you would expect on a target grade gun. William Powell guns are considered the cream of the Birmingham made guns. This one is sure to please it's next owner and is an excellent value. AND--use buy it now--and I'll pay shipping and insurance to the lower 48.
