Description:
This carbine's barrel date is 11-43. The carbine's serial number is 3617420. This is a second block production carbine. The barrel is by Underwood, which was one of the prime contractors of barrels for Saginaw Gear. The high wood stock and handguard is correctly stamped RSG in the sling well and under the hand guard rim as coded for the stock supplier. The right side of the stock near the pistol grip is stamped S'G' with the ordnance wheel. The stock and handguard are in near new condition. The wood shows being linseed oiled. The recoil plate and butt plate are correctly marked for S'G' "Prime". All of the gun parts are correctly stamped and coded for S'G' "Prime". The parts have the original finish intact. The wear and use are consistant with these parts being together for a long time. The barrel bore is bright with sharp lands showing little use. The magaine is correctly coded for Saginaw Gear Grand Rapids. The sling and oiler are correct early style military issued for this time frame. Saginaw Gear Grand Rapids Is the second rarest carbine to find today. The rarest is Irwin Pedersen. Saginaw Gear "Prime" only produced 2% of the entire war production of carbines. To find a complete original Saginaw Gear Grand Rapids carbine is a real find! This is one of these original carbines. The carbine's condition is really fine showing very little service use or wear.
